P. E. Society’s Modern Law College, Department of LL.M. had  organised a State Level Seminar on “ Constitutionality of Capital Punishment in India – Recent Issues”on 28th February 2013.
Subthemes of the Seminar
1.  Capital Punishment for the act of terrorism in the light of Prevention of Terrorism Act.
2. Changing meaning of “Rarest of Rare Case” – Recent Trends.
3.  Need of Capital Punishment for the offence of Rape – Need for a change in Law.
4. Administrative and procedural delays in the awarding of death sentence.
       5.   Changing meaning of crime by juveniles – Need for an overview.

The Chief Guest for the event was Dr. Rasheed Shaikh, Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Pune and Principal, A.K.K. New Law Academy, Pune. The Chief Guest motivated the students  to go beyond the academics and understand the true meaning of aw.

        Several Legal luminaries were present on the occasion including Dr. Sunita Adhav, Member Board of Studies, University Of Pune, Principal, D.Y.Patil Law College, Dr.H.G.Kulkarni, Principal, Sinhagad Law College, Pune and Dr. Nitish Nawasagray, Asst Prof, I.L.S. Law College, Pune. Shri., Sharad Inamdar, Visitor, Modern Law College, Pune and Shri. Prakash Dixit, Dy Secretary were also present on this occasion. In the Second Technical Sessions various Research Presentations were presented by various members of Faculty and students. Mr. Mohit Deshmukh of I.L.S. Law College, was selected as the "Best Paper Presenter".
       The Seminar was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Gajannan Ekbote, Chairman, P.E.Society, Adv. Chintamani Ghate, Co ordinator, Modern Law College and Dr. Meera Sapatnekar, Principal.
